
Edward J. Goddard, ESQ.
Attorney Ed Goddard was raised in Rhode Island and presently resides in the Boston suburb of Wrentham, Massachusetts. Mr. Goddard recently retired after 23 years as the Vice President of Labor Relations for Kindred. Prior to joining Kindred in 1999, Mr. Goddard was in private practice focusing on labor and employment counsel for businesses throughout the country. Mr. Goddard clerked for the Rhode Island Supreme Court following law school and began his legal career at Littler Mendelson in the early 1990s in Littler’s flagship San Francisco office.
At Kindred, Mr. Goddard was responsible for the company labor relations across its care continuum, including LTACHs, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities, Acute Rehab Units, SNFs and home care. Mr. Goddard first chaired more than 400 negotiations during his time at Kindred and advised the company on all mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions. Mr. Goddard is widely recognized as a leader on cutting-edge labor relations issues in the post-acute care continuum.
Mr. Goddard is a published author on labor relations matters and is a sought-after speaker. He has presented at AHCA’s national conference, state healthcare associations, the CEO Roundtable and other similar organizations in the post-acute space. Mr. Goddard’s preeminence in the labor relations field was recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in its inaugural class of In-House Leaders in the Law.
Mr. Goddard has been an active participant and leader of the HR Roundtable for more than 20 years, serving as valuable bridge from its founders to the present HR Roundtable. In this role, he has helped shape vendor selection, HR Roundtable agendas and HR Roundtable Conference management. He has also helped grow and diversify the HR Roundtable beyond its origins as a long-term care provider group to include providers throughout the post-acute care continuum.
Mr. Goddard is a graduate of Brown University and Boston University School of Law.
Mr. Goddard is actively engaged in his community in Wrentham. He currently serves as the Wrentham Town Meeting Moderator and previously served as the Chair of the Wrentham Board of Selectman and the Chair of the Wrentham Public Schools. Mr. Goddard also currently serves as the Chairman of the Wrentham 350th Anniversary Committee.
